Thomas C. Mason, Jr. 90, of Forked River, NJ passed away on Thursday evening, surrounded by his family. Tom grew up in Bloomfield NJ and moved to Iselin after he was married. He bought a house in Forked River in 1950, and moved here permanently in 1990.
Tom was a World War II Marine and served in Okinawa. After he was honorably discharged he began his lifelong career as a lithographer. He was the past commander of VFW Post 2636 in Iselin, and past president of the Celtic Club, and a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus, a member of The Old Guard, as well as an active member of the Church of Saint Pius X, where he regularly attend 8:00 am mass.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Doreen; his son, Tim; and his daughter-in-law and pinochle partner Suyuan. He will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 at Layton’s Home for Funerals, Forked River. A funeral Mass will begin at 9:30 Wednesday at the Church of Saint Pius X, Forked River. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
