Mary passed away unexpectedly on June 28, 2017, while in North Shore University Hospital, Manhasset, NY.
Mary Lou was born in Long Island City, NYC and lived in Corona, Queens until 1942 when the family moved out on the island to Franklin Square.
She was predeceased by parents, Frank and Marjorie Lenti, Franklin Square, NY and her brother, Don Lenti, Forked River, Lacey Township.
Mary had a full and rewarding nursing career that began with the Congregation of the Nursing Sisters of the Sick Poor doing public Health nursing in Brooklyn and Queens. She then worked for Manhattan Bowery Project outpatient dept. until 1969. Mary Lou then began at Creedmoor State hospital of the Outpatient Day Program and retired in 2001.
Her love of music began with piano lessons and singing as a child and later learned to play the organ. Music was a constant companion from the classics to Albert Hall and signing with the Women’s Club of Lacey where she shared her love of gardening, singing and socializing with a great group of friends.
Mary was a memorable and feisty little woman remarkably supportive of friends and family including a medical trip to India, packages at birthdays and Christmas, and being in contact with friends and family.
She was a strong advocate for animals and supportive of Popcorn Perk Zoo so we ask that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Popcorn Park Zoo in memory of Mary Lou Lenti.
