Edward J. Kashuda, age 91, a long time resident of Toms River, before moving to Forked River twenty years ago, passed away on November 3, 2014.
Ed was born on March 28, 1923 to Mr. & Mrs. Frank Kashuda in Duryea, PA. He was the sixth of thirteen children. His surviving siblings are Vincent, John, Veronica, Yvonne, Eleanor, Florence and Agnes.
Ed was proud to serve his country in the US Navy for twenty years, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer. After his Navy career he was employed as a government employee in the Electronic Command at Fort Monmouth, NJ for seventeen years.
Ed was a devoted husband to his wife Bennie for 67 years and a loving family man to his children and their spouses; Mary and Terry, Greg and Diane, Mark and Ellen and Jeff, he became a favorite grandfather to his two granddaughters Amy and Marissa and his five grandsons Kyle, Brian, Matt, Rich and Michael.
Ed was a parishioner of the Church of Saint Pius X, Forked River and a 4 th degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus, a member of the US Navy Fleet Reserve Association, the VFW and Cedar Creek Seniors Golf League.
Visitation will be Thursday 7-9 pm at the Layton’s Home For Funerals, Forked River.A funeral service will be held at 11 am at the funeral home, relatives and friends may arrive at the funeral home 1030am. Burial will follow at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to Wounded Warrior Project would be appreciated, woundedwarrierproject.org.
