Walter Johnsen Obituary

Walter Johnsen 82 of Lacey Township, passed away peacefully on Wednesday April 26, 2023, at Community Medical Center, Toms River, NJ surrounded by his loved ones.

A true Brooklynite Walter was born in Gerritsen Beach Brooklyn in October of 1940 and as an adult, reside in a home he bought from his grandfather, five streets aways, until he as his beloved wife and soul mate made the leap and found a new happiness living waterside in Lanoka Harbor, Lacey Township, NJ in November 2000.

Walter proudly and honorably served his country as a member of the United States Navy training as a Navy Seal.

With a High School education and after his leave from the Navy, professionally walter rose the ranks while getting his Bachelor's degree in Engineering at Staten Island Collage, becoming General manager/Senior Watch Foreman for the Consolidated Edison Corporation's main plant in New York City's Waterside Station until he retired in October 2000.

He was a communicant of the Church of Saint Pius X, Forked River, Lacey Township.

Walter loved boating and fishing, was an avid golfer, actually, anything extreme, he would complain first then in a flash, he was all in, from white water rafting in Costa Rica to hiking the Great Wall of China. Walter loved to travel the world with his Sweetie and love of his life of 63 years Marcia. Together they built an incredible family who he loved to be surrounded by. He was a great story teller and joker and a friend to any microphone that would let him sing and boy could he sing. He loved to cook and never seen without a smile on his face as he referred to himself by the AKA "Joe Jolly".

Walter was loved by his many friends and enjoyed the endless memories he shared with them. He was an outstanding father, husband, grandfather, He touched the lives of all that had the pleasure of knowing him, he lived by the saying, "See ya when I see ya" as he shared the joy.

Walter lived a remarkable, fulfilling and extraordinarily happy life and will be missed by all his family and friends.

Surviving is his loving wife, Marcia, 2 daughters Lorrie and Jennifer, his son Walter Jr. 2 sons in law Thomas and Phil and 2 cherished grandchildren; Jamie Elizabeth, her husband Joe, and Thomas James both who made his heart sing, as well, his sister Patty loving referred to as Tee. Also surviving is a large loving extended family.
