Virginia LaVelle Obituary

Virginia Marie LaVelle (Ginny), age 74, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at Southern Ocean County Hospital in Manahawkin.

She was born December 19, 1943 in Jersey City, NJ. Ginny graduated from Henry Snyder High School and studied at New Jersey City University. She spent more than half of her life in Mahwah working as an office manager but had many additional roles throughout the community – Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts Leader, PTA President, competitive Bridge player, racquetball champion, softball player and coach, and President of the Women’s Club of Mahwah for 3 years, as well as, Treasurer.

She continued her selfless determination in the Women’s club of Lacey where she received the most prestigious award that a club could present – “The Order of the Lily”. With her exemplary work in this club and community, Ginny was also placed on the New Jersey State Federation of Women’s Club of Lacey Honor Roll. A true angel on earth, she touched so many hearts with her selfless, loving, caring disposition.

She traveled to the ends of the world with her husband and family and enjoyed crossword puzzles, but always made sure to leave time for “a game”. Ginny was always an avid reader, and in her later years also found a love for quilting.

She was adored by many and is survived by her childhood sweetheart and husband of 52 years, Patrick LaVelle II; her children, Donna and Patrick III, their spouses Freddy and Sarah, and her three grandchildren, Adriana, Vincent and Wyatt, as well as her brothers Arthur and William and sisters Barbara, Patricia and Donna.

Services were held privately as per her wishes, but please feel free to leave a loving comment.
