Virginia (Miller) Affuso, 83, of Toms River, passed away on Sunday, June 18th. She was born in 1940, and spent a happy childhood in North Bergen, NJ with her parents William and Josephine Miller, and her four siblings. She was married in 1960 to George Affuso, and moved to Lacey Township in 1973, where she raised her own children before retiring to Holiday City.
“Jeanne,” as she was known to many, was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend, who was always ready to listen or lend a hand. She was loved by everyone for her ever-present smile, and kind, upbeat personality. Her family was the most important thing in her world, and she was happiest when surrounded by their laughter.
Virginia was a pharmacy technician, and a longtime employee of Lacey Shop Rite. She took personal interest in all her customers and was remembered fondly by them long after she retired. She loved music and was a wonderful singer. She was fun and adventurous, with a joyful spirit.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, George, her parents William and Josephine, her brothers William and Frank, and her sister Mary Ann. She is survived by her sister Sharon Miller Golodik (Jim), her son Steven Affuso, her daughters Donna Jean Grando (Andy) and Patricia Hayes (Ken), her grandchildren Anthony Affuso (Lauren), Andrew Grando (Melissa), Eric Grando (Destini), and Virginia Ruffo, and her great-grandchildren Josephine and Emilia Grando, and Steven and Anthony Affuso.
