Thomas J. Grike, Jr.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and Poppop, Thomas J. Grike Jr.  Tom passed away peacefully with his family by his side on December 26, 2024 at the age of 77.

He was born on September 6, 1947 in Philadelphia, PA. He graduated from Cardinal Dougherty High School in 1964 before taking a year to do missionary work in El Salvador.  When he returned home he received his Bachelor’s Degree from LaSalle University in 1969.  He then married before enlisting in the Army for both active duty and reserves. Upon completion in 1977, he began his career with various government positions finally landing in a Labor Relations Specialist role until retirement.  

Tom is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Kathleen, his children, Thomas Grike and his wife Barbara, Jennifer Lindsey and her husband Christopher, Matthew Grike and his wife Rebecca, Geoffrey Grike, Bethann Tengowski and her husband Robert, and his grandchildren, Alexandra Grike, Jordyn and Michael Lindsey, Maxwell and Julia Grike and Benjamin and Anna Tengowski.

He settled down in Lanoka Harbor in 1978 where he raised his beautiful family.  He was very involved in the community and sports organizations; his favorite role being a coach, especially to his own children.  He has always had a love and passion for sports, especially the Philadelphia Eagles. His favorite pastimes were always playing games, collecting coins and spending time with his family.  

His unique sense of humor and his kindhearted ways will be missed by many.
