Obituary

Siegfried Kiesewetter 86, passed away peacefully at home, with his loving wife at his side. Born in Kircheim, Germany, he came to America at age 18 and became a citizen shortly there after. He was a member of the German singing society, the Schwaebischer Saengerbund of Newark and remained so for over 60 years. He resided in Irvington, Union, Livingston and for the last 30 years in Forked River, NJ.

He proudly served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea. He began his employment as a tool and die maker and later started his own business manufacturing surgical instruments. Over the next 35 years the business grew from a small building in Maplewood to a larger location in East Orange.

Siegfried enjoyed many activities. In his younger years he enjoyed playing European handball with the Elizabeth Sports Club. He was an avid skier and member of the Enzian Ski Club. He learned how to sail and his passion grew along with the size of his boats. He navigated many trips up and down the east coast and loved being out on the open water. He took up golf in his later years and enjoyed competitive games with friends and family. He was a member of the Old Guard of Forked River.

He is survived by his wife, Ursula (nee Bercham.) He was predeceased by his brothers Heinz and Gunter Kiesewetter. He was the devoted father of Susan (Don) Julich and Michael (Chrissy) Kiesewetter; grandfather to Nicole Julich Berman, Alyssa Julich Beresford, Lauren and Chelsea Kiesewetter and great-grandfather to Grace and Nate Berman. He also was a stepfather to Christine (Amrit) Sekhon and Robert (Tanya) Hekler. Step-grandfather to Skylar and Cole Hekler and Abby and Hailey Sekhon.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Compassus Hospice for their outstanding care of their father/husband. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to either Compassus Hospice Care (Toms River, NJ) or the Alzheimers Association Greater NJ Chapter.
