Sharon Henninger, Original Bunny from the Playboy Casino Atlantic City, Dies at 73.
Sharon Henninger, long time casino pit boss whose illustrious career spanned over 25 years in Atlantic City died on Tuesday in Little Egg Harbor,
The cause was unknown but attributed in part to Alzheimer's.
Her professional career started in the 1970s when she was one of the few women recruited by AT&T for their computer technology division. After her time in Manhattan, she was chosen to enter the first Bunny cohort for the Playboy Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City. With her quick wit, gregarious personality, and eye-catching style, she would go on to win awards and be featured in several news stories about the bunnies and the Playboy Club. Over the decades she would befriend athletes, celebrities, and tv/film industry tycoons who became regular fixtures at her games and in her pit.
Sharon was known for saying “If you have a love of the arts, you will never be bored.” Outside of her career, Sharon had a voracious love of music and attended over seventy concerts and theater performances. Always on the go, she could be found traveling to NYC, Italy, and Paris to quench her love of fine art.
In her youth, Sharon resided in Bayonne, NJ, and attended Bayonne High School. She would go on to meet her husband of 50 years, Charles Henninger, while on vacation in Puerto Rico. They would court while Charles finished his service in the US Navy and they eventually married in 1971.
After 40 years in Forked River, NJ, Charles, and Sharon retired to Osborne Island and resided there at the time of Sharon’s passing. Sharon is survived by her husband Charles Henninger. Her children Stacy Quakenbush and Charles Henninger Jr. and her grandchildren Dante, Zan, Gavin, Dawsyn, and Cooper.
