Sandra May Groffie

Sandra Groffie, age 82, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2021, at home surrounded by loved ones.

Sandy was born to Helen and LeRoy Bean on August 7, 1939, and was raised in Hellertown, PA.  In the early-1960s, Sandy relocated to New Jersey and, shortly after, began careers that she has always held dear – as the Records Officer at Seaside Heights Police Department, and as a mother and grandmother.  After a 36-year career at Seaside Heights PD, Sandy retired in 2004.  Sandy, known by many as “The Queen of Shopping,” loved the opportunity to find someone that special item, having coffee with friends in both New Jersey and the Hellertown area, and watching her grandchildren and their cousins grow through their various sports and activities.

Sandy was pre-deceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Lucille and Vince Makoski, as well as her longtime companion, Anthony Schremmer.  She is survived by her son, Darren Groffie, his wife Joan, and her grandchildren Ryan and Shannon Groffie.  Sandy is also survived by many special people in her life that she regarded as family, including numerous police officers throughout the State who began their careers in Seaside Heights, and who Sandy looked upon as her children away from home.
