It is with broken hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved Ryan, who left us far too soon. A bright light in every room, Ryan lived his life with creativity, warmth, and a spirit that will never be forgotten.
Born in Toms River NJ in 1991, Ryan brought joy to those around him through his love of design, travel, and the little things that made life magical—especially Christmas. A gifted designer with an eye for beauty, he was always dreaming, always creating, and always sharing those gifts with those he loved.
Ryan found happiness in the mountains skiing, in quiet moments with animals, gatherings with friends and family, and in the unconditional love of his dog and constant companion, Girly. He had a heart that was wide open—to people, to beauty, and to the world.
He was a devoted son, brother, partner, godfather, nephew, cousin and friend. He is survived by his parents Rick Zieser Sr and Patricia Rooney and his step-father Paul Rooney. His sister Nicole, brother Ricky and wife Victoria, brother Kazuki Io and wife Rina, as well as his partner, Paul Mazzoni. His most cherished title was godfather to niece Addison, and he was eagerly awaiting the arrival of his second niece this fall. His love and loyalty for his family and friends was unwavering, and his presence was a steady comfort in their lives.
Ryan is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, none of which he loved more than his godmother and “Boo,” Aunt Kathy, whose love and guidance shaped his kind, joyful heart as well as his fashion sense.
Those who knew Ryan will remember his infectious smile, his impeccable taste, his love of animals, and his ability to make the ordinary feel magical. His absence leaves a space that cannot be filled, but his spirit will live on in every Christmas light, every snowy mountain, every shared laugh.
A celebration of Ryan’s life will be held on Monday June 23rd at Layton's Funeral Home located at 250 Lacey Road in Forked River from 2-6pm, where family and friends are invited to honor his memory and the beautiful life he lived. Followed by a mass in his honor Tuesday June 24th at 11AM at St. Barnabas Catholic Church located in Bayville. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Associated Humane Societies in Tinton Falls in his name.
Though our hearts are heavy, we carry Ryan with us—in every memory, every story, and every quiet moment of love.
