Ronald Milton Bayer

Ronald Milton Bayer, 74, of Forked River, passed away on August 27, 2023 at home surrounded by his immediate family.  

Ron was born on July 8, 1949 to Milton and Genevieve Bayer of Lyndhurst, NJ. He was a proud Navy Veteran, serving in the Vietnam War from 1968-1970 as a Seabee.  Upon return from Vietnam, Ron married his high school sweetheart, Althea (Kovacsofsky) Bayer, in 1971 and they had two children, Michele (Bayer) Becker, and Ronald C. Bayer. In 1983, Ron and Althea relocated to Forked River to the house that Ron built to raise his family.

Ron was a licensed plumber and owned his own business, Bayer & Son, with his Father, and later became Facilities Director for the Southern Regional School District, where he retired in 2014 after 25 years with the district.  

In his free time, Ron coached numerous sports teams for his children in Lacey- coaching for Lacey Little League, Lacey BCYAA, and Lacey Girls Softball, where he served as Board Secretary.  He also was a licensed plumbing inspector and Subcode Official for Ocean County.  

Ron was predeceased by his father Milton Bayer.  Ron is survived by his wife of 51 years Althea Bayer, his mother Genevieve Bayer, his daughter Michele (Bayer) Becker and husband Jay Becker, his son Ronald C. Bayer and wife Jessica (Somers) Bayer, and his grandchildren Madison Bayer, Logan Becker, Molly Bayer, Alyssa Becker, and Maisie Bayer, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ron enjoyed his time on his boat, tailgating and watching the NY Giants as a long time season ticket holder, and sitting at the Barnegat Light Inlet with his Wife.

Ron’s greatest life accomplishment was his role as husband, father, uncle, and Poppy to his five grandchildren.
