Rita "Chickie" D'Amico, 86, of Lanoka Harbor, died Tuesday, May 25, 2022 at Community Medical Center, Toms River.
Chickie was born and lived in Jersey City most of her life and moved down the shore to Lanoka Harbor to be closer to her family 7 years ago.
She worked for many years and retired from the Board of Education in Jersey City.
Chickie's family was her life and she loved spending time with them and her best friend Dolly. In her younger days, she was an athlete and was a great basketball player despite her height. Her love for sports followed her throughout her life and she was a diehard NYJets and NY Yankee fan.
Chickie loved to laugh and had a great sense of humor. She also was extremely proud of being Italian, being from Jersey City and loved music, singing and dancing. The fun memories and funny stories she leaves us with are gifts that will always keep Chickie in the hearts of her family and anyone who knew her.
Surviving is her loving sister Antoinette and her husband Skip, her beloved niece and nephew Tammy and Don and their children, her cherished nieces and nephew, Alexis, Quinn, and Ava. Also surviving is a large loving extended family of cousins and loved ones.
