It is with great sadness that the family of Richard Tallon announce his passing on June 23, 2023, at the age of 76. Rich died at Ocean University Medical Center, surrounded by his loved ones, after a brief battle with cancer.
Rich will be forever missed by his loving wife and partner of 50 years, Jocelyn; his two daughters, Jennifer and Kimberly; and his granddaughters, Marissa and Samantha.
After a lifetime of hard work, Rich retired early at age 54 and spent the next 20-plus years golfing, traveling with his wife, enjoying time with his family, and cuddling with Cleo the cat. In 2015, Rich and Jocelyn moved to Lanoka Harbor to enjoy their golden years.
Rich was an avid competitor—whether in golf, water volleyball, racing with his grandchildren, or even a game of Scrabble. And he didn’t believe in letting the little kids win just to be nice.
More than anything, Rich was devoted to his family. His favorite time of year was probably summer visits with his grandchildren. Rich spent those visits taking the girls to the beach and boardwalk, playing boardgames, having races, putting on talent shows, and doing anything else his granddaughters put on their “weekly schedule.”
A celebration of Rich’s life is planned for Thursday, June 29, from 2-4 p.m.
