Richard Rivas, age 80, of Galloway, formerly of Lacey Township died Friday October 22, 2021.
Mr. Rivas was born in Jersey City, living in North Arlington before moving to Lacey Township in 1969; where he established Rivas Construction Company, Lacey Township building many custom homes in Ocean and Monmouth counties. Prior to the construction company he was employed at his brother’s in-law’s bakery in North Arlington and also was employed by Prentice Hall Englewood Cliffs NJ.
Mr. Rivas enjoyed fishing, hunting, building collectable cars, breeding and racing horses.
Richard Rivas (Poppy) was loved and cherished by his family and many who appreciated his humor and outgoing leadership.
Surviving is his wife of 62 years Judith Hampton Rivas and their two sons Richard Rivas Jr and his spouse Debra (Lehmann) Rivas, Troy Rivas and his spouse Kathryn (Black) Rivas. Poppy’s four grandsons Tyler Rivas, Zachary Rivas, Richard Rivas III and Chad Rivas and six great grandchildren.
