Raymond John Gudzak of Forked River, Lacey Township, passed away at home peacefully on Thursday, January 25, 2024.
Formerly of Kearny, New Jersey, Ray was one of three children born to Jane and John Gudzak. After graduating from Kearny High School, he attended Newark School of Engineering, then went on to work for General Motors.
Ray married the beautiful love of his life, Camille. Ray and Camille not only had their marriage blessed by the Pope, they danced and celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last April with family and friends.
The couple relocated to Forked River where he began a career in construction. Not only did Ray build several homes and strip malls in Lacey, he took a path to teach his trade and craftsmanship at the Ocean County Vocational Technical School. He taught there for many years until he retired.
In addition to Ray’s fulltime occupations, he found time to participate very actively within the Roman Catholic Church. Ray served as a Eucharistic Minister, spearheaded the Youth Group, taught CCD, participated in many retreats, and much more. However, Ray always had his partner and the love of his life, Camille, by his side! Coaching youth soccer, especially the Lacey Cobra Travel team, was dear to his heart! In addition to his love of soccer, Ray was a sports fan that enjoyed his N.Y Giants and golfing.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jane and John Gudzak.
Raymond is survived by his wife Camille, four children; Donna Spaventa (Joseph), Gary Gudzak, Duane Gudzak (Robyn), Debra Swinney (David), brother John Gudzak (Anne); sister Janice Villafana (Andrew), fifteen grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, Raymond’s family will appreciate contributions to CURE Epilepsy, see link below
