Omega J. Tornquist

Omega Tornquist, 83, of Ooltewah, Tennessee, passed away at her daughter’s home in Forked River, NJ on June 22, 2021 with her husband and family by her side. She was born in Louisville, Kentucky on December 17, 1938.

Omega's early career began at Princeton University, where she met and eventually married Richard Tornquist on November 27, 1938. She lived in Griggstown, NJ most of her life and worked at the Carrier Clinic for 23 years before retiring in 2000. She was known for her secretarial skills. Omega was a member of the East Millstone Baptist Church, where she enjoyed many outreach activities and singing in the choir. She was also a member of the Griggstown Volunteer Fire Dept Ladies Auxiliary. Omega and Richard retired to Ooltewah, Tennessee in 2000. Omega enjoyed golf, volunteering at the American Legion Post 257, and singing in the choir at the Cross Roads Baptist Church. She enjoyed traveling with Richard in their RV to numerous states and visiting with friends and family throughout the U.S.

Omega is survived by her husband Richard Tornquist, children Cheryl and Richard Moran of Cedar Run, NJ; Beth and Eddie Amato, Knoxville, Tennessee; Lisa and George Brown of Alabama, 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 1 sister Karen Sawyers of Louisville, KY and many extended family members and friends.
