Nancy Lovering, age 73, of Forked River, Lacey passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at Southern Ocean County Medical Center.
She was born in Newark, NJ, grew up in Spotswood, NJ, attended South River High School class of 1965 and moved to Forked River in 1969 with her husband Bill, who passed away in 2016. Nancy was a school bus driver for the Central Regional school system for over 30 years until she retired in 2005.
Nancy was known as the woman that would inconvenience herself in order to help others. She was a devoted wife of 47 years, a loving mother to her son and daughter, and was completely addicted to her four grandchildren. Nancy was also a self-trained private investigator who began her training right around the time her daughter started dating. She started with the standard “hide in the bushes” techniques and proved her mastery when she managed to get aboard Marine Corps Recruit Depot Paris Island and get live footage of her son training without being detected. Nancy was one of a kind, loved by most, feared by those who crossed her family, and certainly will be missed by all.
Surviving is her daughter Rachel Lovering, her son Anthony Lovering and his wife Mandy; and four grandchildren Connor, Chase, Sophia, and Damian; and her sister Karen Canarelli.
Visitation will be 9 to 10:30am Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at the Layton's Home For Funerals, Forked River. Relatives and friends may arrive 9am Tuesday morning at the funeral home. A funeral mass will be celebrated 11 am at the Church of Saint Pius X. Entombment will follow at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask to made a donation to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, which was Nancy’s favorite charity.
