Michele Ohlsson, 71, passed away peacefully after a battle with Alzheimer's Disease on August 09, 2022 at the Springhome Assisted Living; Memory Care Facility in Galloway, N.J. Her Son, Shane Ohlsson, Brother, Bud Baker and Sister Megan Baker were at her side. Michele was a devoted Mother, Grandmother, Wife, Daughter, Aunt and Educator.
Whether you knew her as Michele, Mickey, Mike, Mom Mom, Mom or Mrs. Ohlsson you knew she had a big heart, was a selfless loving person and always put others first.
Michele was born on February 4, 1951 in Hoboken, NJ and was raised in neighboring Weehawken, NJ where she graduated from Weehawken High School in 1969. She received a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from William Paterson College in 1973. She married Carl Ohlsson in 1976 and moved to Atlantic Highlands, NJ. Both her Sons, Leif and Shane were born there and the family moved to Forked River, NJ in 1987. She was employed as a teacher in the Lacey Township School District for 25 years before retiring in 2015.
Michele was predeceased by her Husband Carl Ohlsson, Son Leif Eric Ohlsson, Father Robert G. Baker and Mother Muriel Baker.
She is survived by her Son, Shane Ohlsson, his wife Stephanie and their Daughters Blake and Autumn along with her Grandson Brandon Ohlsson. Her Step Son, Chip Ohlsson, his wife Koral and their Sons, Christopher, Connor and Cooper and Step Daughter Susan Ohlsson. She also leaves behind her Sister, Maureen Blazini, her husband Anthony, Jersey City, NJ, her Brother, Robert "Bud" Baker, Spring Lake Heights, NJ and Sister Megan Baker, Tampa, Fl. She also leaves one niece, Kelley Blazini and her husband Richard Kleid and 3 Nephews, Anthony Blazini and his wife Genevieve, Ian R. Baker and Daniel Baker.
Michele's kind spirit and loving manner will be missed by all! The world was a better place with her in it and her memory will live on by all who knew her...
A service in her memory will be held at Layton's Funeral Home, 250 W. Lacey Road, Forked River, NJ 08731 on Monday August 15th from 3PM-5PM.
In lieu of flowers a donation to the New Jersey Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association would be appreciated.
