Michael Stefanick Obituary

Michael R. Stefanick, Sr. age 102, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2026 peacefully at home in Forked River. He had been a resident of Lacey Township since the 1980's.

Michael was born on October 29,1923 in Linden, New Jersey. He served in the US Army VI Sixth Core 3rd Infantry at the Battle of Anzio in WW II and he was stationed in Italy and South Africa throughout his career. Michael is a two-time recipient of the Purple Heart and he also received two Silver Stars for his service.

Michael was married to his wife Lillian (deceased) for over 70 years and they had twochildren, four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Michael worked in the banking field for a very long time and truly enjoyed his job. One of the banks he worked at was First Jersy located in Jersey City, and he later transferred to one of their branches in Atlantic City. 

Michael was a long time Parishioner of St. Pius X in Forked River, and he was active in the church. He belonged to the American Legion, the Coast Guard Auxiliary, Old Guard of Lacey, the Knights of Columbus and the DAV.

Michael enjoyed bowling, fishing and crabbing, boating, traveling, and spending time with his family. He was a big NY Giants and NY Yankee's fan. 

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, eight siblings, and his loving wife Lillian.

He is survived by his children, Patricia Gowen and her husband Robert and Michael Stefanick Jr and his wife Fran Stefanick. Four Grandchildren, Stephen Tacovsky and his wife Heather,

Ryan Tacovsky, Michael R. Stefanick III and his wife Shannon, and Scott Stefanick; Four Great-Grandchildren, Spencer and Carson Tacovsky and Taylor and Emma Stefanick.
