It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of MaryAnn Procopio on March 5, 2026, in Toms River, New Jersey. MaryAnn fought a long and courageous battle with Leukemia.
MaryAnn was born on July 21, 1946 in Newark, New Jersey to James and Yolanda Sia DeLeonardo, where she spent her early years. She attended and graduated Barringer high school in Newark, where she met her husband to be, James "Jimmy" Procopio. MaryAnn and Jimmy were married on June 3, 1967. They shared their life together and made a home with their daughter Cheryl for many years in Belleville, New Jersey. In time they moved down the shore to Manalapan, New Jersey. She eventually settled in Toms River, New Jersey to be close to her daughter Cheryl, son in law, Wayne, and the pride and joys of her life, grandsons Jimmy and John Tomredle.
MaryAnn was a wonderful stay at home mom for many years in Belleville. She volunteered in the school's PTA and Cheryl's brownie troops. After moving to Manalapan, MaryAnn worked for Manalapan Township in the tax assessors office for many years. She finally retired after 25 years with Manalapan.
After retiring in 2015, MaryAnn enjoyed spending time with her grandsons and watching them grow up. She was incredibly proud of them. MaryAnn enjoyed a wonderful trip to Walt Disney World with Cheryl, Wayne, Jimmy and John in 2019. She loved being at one of her favorite places, the Polynesian Village. She spent many family vacations in Disney World with her daughter and husband. She also enjoyed many trips to the casinos in Atlantic City, Point Pleasant and Seaside Heights boardwalks and enjoying many dinners with her husband Jimmy. MaryAnn loved to cook for her family. She especially loved baking during the holidays.
MaryAnn is predeceased by her husband James Procopio and her parents James and Yolanda Sia DeLeonardo.
MaryAnn leaves behind her loving daughter Cheryl Tomredle, son in law, Wayne and her beloved grandsons, Jimmy and John. She also leaves behind her brother in law, Anthony Procopio of Brick, NJ, her niece and family Laurie, Gary, Sam and Jack of Howell, NJ, Godson, nephew and family John, Maureen, and Lila of Eugene, Oregon and her Aunt Anna DeLeonardo of Holmdel, NJ, and many other dear relatives and friends
