Madeline Barisciano (August 8, 1933 - March 14, 2024)
Beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt, longtime Staten Island resident Madeline Barisciano (nee Valente) passed away on March 14, 2024 at Crestwood Manor, Whiting, New Jersey at the ago of 90. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 60 years, Angelo in July 2010 and by her dearly loved son, Michael in April 2022. She is survived by her four children Larry, Robert and his wife Donna, Kathy and her wife Cindy, and Richard. She left a beautiful legacy of 12 dearly loved grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and many caring nieces and nephews
Affectionately known to those close to her as “Sissy,” she was the daughter of the late Carmine Valente and Maria Valente (nee Pasciullo). She was raised by her Uncle Luigi Valente and his wife Mary Fornino upon the death of her mother when Madeline was a year old. She lived most of her life and raised her family in Staten Island, staying home to take care of her 5 children while her husband worked two jobs to support their family. Four years ago, Madeline relocated to Crestwood Manor Senior Living in Whiting, New Jersey, to be near her daughter who cared for her lovingly and patiently until she passed.
Madeline’s greatest joy was her family, whom she loved dearly. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, grandmama, aunt and dear friend to all who knew her. She enjoyed caring for and cooking for her family. She and her husband would often cook for parties of over 60 people and still have plenty of leftovers. Madeline loved spending time with her family, especially her adored grandchildren and great grandchildren. “My mom lived every chapter of her 90 years with courage and grace. She was brave, she was witty, she was kind, she was loyal and she always put her family first. She had a way of speaking her mind that was both amusing and endearing to all that knew her,” said her daughter.
A celebration of life will be held at Layton’s Home for Funerals in Forked River on Friday, March 22 from 9am to noon.
