In Loving Memory of Karen Kramer

Karen Kramer, beloved mother, grandmother and aunt passed away on August 7, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of love, laughter, stories, and just enough mischief to keep everyone smiling.

Born on April 2, 1942, in Jersey City, New Jersey. Karen lived a full life. Over the years, she became known for her warmth, kindness, humor, stubbornness, and for making the people around her feel loved, welcomed, and feeling like part of the family.

But the story of Karen was never really about dates and accomplishments. It was about the little things.

It was about Atlantic City trips, sneaking off to the racetrack and getting her daily lottery tickets. It was about Saturday breakfast at the Sand Castel diner and Sunday morning Wawa coffee.  And, of course, it was about her ever present practical jokes and silliness.  

Karen had a particular gift for making the best out of every situation and she never seemed to let an opportunity for a good joke, a strong opinion, or an unsolicited piece of advice pass by. 

Those who knew Karen will remember her warmth and humor, but shewill be especially remembered about how she made ordinary moments feel important. A family meal, a holiday, a cup of coffee, or simply sitting together could become a memory worth keeping.

Karen is survived by her children, her son John Kramer and his wife Jill and her daughter Kelly Kramer, her grandchildren Lindsay Kramer and her husband Peter Vander Valk and Justin Kramer and his fiancé Alexis Stephens, and her siblings Ingrid Frick and her husband, Eddie; Linda Koenig; Paul Olsen (deceased) and his wife, Mary; Claire Compitello (deceased) and her husband Bill (deceased); Roger Olsen and his wife, Dina; Frank Olsen and his wife, Carol; Joyce Bocchino; Carl Olsen (deceased) and his wife, Eileen; and Harold Olsen and his wife, Gail.

Karen will be deeply missed, endlessly remembered, and will probably still somehow get in the last word.

We will miss her laugh. We will miss her mischievousness. We will miss the advice we asked for, the advice we didn't ask for, and all the little things we never realized we would miss until she was gone.

Most of all, we will miss simply having Karen here.
