Joseph J. Quagliero, 90, passed away Thursday, January 11, 2024 at Southern Ocean Medical Center, Stafford Twp.
Joseph was born in Paterson, formerly of Oakland before moving to Barnegat in 2006. Mr. Quagliero was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Mary Ellen, on December 31, 2016. Surviving is his brother, Louis Quagliero of Paterson, NJ ; a dear friend of many years Father Paul Iovino and many nieces and nephews.
Joseph attended St. Anthony Elementary School and Eastside High School, both of Paterson and went on to Montclair State University to earn his bachelor’s and master’s degrees. He taught at Paterson School #10, eventually becoming principal and then assistant superintendent of the Paterson City School District before retiring in 2006.
He was a parishioner of Most Blessed Sacrament Church, Franklin Lakes where he served as a eucharist minister and lecturer. He was also a parishioner of Church of Saint Pius X, Forked River, where he also served in those roles.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 2-6pm at Layton’s Home for Funerals, 250 W. Lacey Road, Forked River. There will be a Mass Thursday at 10am at Church of Saint Pius X, Forked River. Burial will be Friday at Christ the King Cemetery, Franklin Lakes
