Joseph Quinn Obituary

Our Mighty Quinn will officially see us on the rebound.

Joseph Paul Quinn Jr., age 75, of Forked River, NJ peacefully went home to rest after a courageous 6 1/2-year battle with Brain Cancer on 6/11/2020 surrounded by his family.

Born on May 29, 1945 in Staten Island NY to Joseph P Quinn & Josephine A Quinn. Joe was raised in New Dorp NY and was a 1964 graduate of New Dorp High School.

Joe married the love of his life almost 51 years ago, Ellen Counts on August 30, 1969. In 2019 they celebrated their Golden Anniversary at home surrounded by family and friends on warm day full of sunshine and fun.

Joe was a Jack of All Trades with hands that could fix anything. An early entrepreneur & proud Staten Islander, Joe moved to Lakewood NJ in 1979 where he and his wife Ellen raised their four children and operated their family business.  A self-made, independent contractor, Joe was the proprietor of Quinn’s Gas Installations and later Quinn’s Installations with his son Joseph Paul Quinn III. Joe and Ellen later moved to Forked River NJ in 2006 to share a life with their youngest daughter and son-in-law on a bucolic property that Joe described as “my paradise”.

Joe was above all a family man and was happiest at his home in the company of his wife & family. His only request in life was to have some “peace and quiet and a few kind words”

Joe was predeceased by his parents, Joseph & Josephine Quinn.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife of fifty years Ellen Quinn (Counts);their children Karen Meglis and her Husband Vinny of Forked River, NJ, Colleen DePaul and her husband Bryan of Pt Pleasant Beach, NJ, Joseph Paul Quinn III and Wendy Leeman of Manahawkin NJ and Joellynn Verdier and her husband Dr Robert Verdier of Forked River, NJ; grandchildren Katrina, Jameson, Kennedy, Brennen, Summer, Kelly, Hudson, and Khloe. His sisters Elizabeth Solazzo and husband Tony of Boca Raton, FL, Joanne Gagliardi and husband Patrick of Hillsborough, NJ., Kathryn Mallon and husband Joseph of Weaverville, NC, as well as three brothers and several beloved nieces & nephews
