Joseph Klein Obituary

Joseph S. Klein, 81, of Whiting, NJ died Saturday, February 1st, at home surrounded by his loving girls.  Joseph was a devoted husband to Patricia (nee Gilson) for 60 years who he called with affection ‘Patty Ann’. He was also a loving father and grandfather. Besides his wife, he is survived by his two daughters and their husbands: Ellen and Gilbert Vidal, of Lacey; Theresa and Shawn Cavalcante, of Anthem, Az.: his grandchildren: Theodore and Declan Vidal; and Robert J. Cavalcante.

Joe was a certified master technician and most notably a dealership service manager with a focus on Chrysler and Dodge for more than 40 years in Ocean and Monmouth counties. He had received many Chrysler technician and customer service awards during his career.  When he retired he earned his CDL and drove buses for CV transport and Stoudt transportation.

He enjoyed many activities, but he was probably best known as becoming a master ‘do-it-yourselfer’ on family and friends’ homes.  His skills were such that if he didn't have a tool, he would make it to finish the job not only when he worked on cars but homes, as well.

Born in Jersey City, Joe was a lifelong Jersey Shore resident and a graduate of Brick Township High School. He lived in the Forked River section of Lacey Township for nearly 40 years Before moving to Whiting and was a neighborhood friend to all.

When he wasn't working, Joe enjoyed his time vacationing in the Poconos with family and was noted for his walks in the mountains. He served as a coach for the Lacey Township Soccer Club, was a member of Lacey Elks and was a staunch supporter and volunteer for the annual Lacey Township Christmas Parade. He also enjoyed his trips to challenge the casinos in Atlantic City and playing the lottery.

Joe served honorably in the New Jersey Army National Guard as a Tank Turret Mechanic. He was a communicant of. St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, Forked River.

Joe was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Elizabeth; his brother, Jack; and sister, Betty Ann Doelger. He was also predeceased by his adopted son James K Moore/Klein.
