With sorrow the family announces that Joseph Cornetto Jr, age 70, died Monday, July 29 following a long battle with cancer.
Joseph was born in Hackensack, NJ and spent early years growing up in West New York, NJ. In West New York, Joseph attended Memorial HS. In 1970, the Cornetto family with Joseph and his brothers and sisters moved to Forked River, NJ where Joseph attended Central Regional HS in Bayville, NJ. Joseph continued to live in the Forked River area for many years.
With a strong interest in all things automotive, from an early age Joe worked in and around cars in various service stations and repair shops. He regularly adopted older cars including a 1948 Ford panel van, a1964 Olds 442, and a 1966 VW bug -delivered in pieces. Many of his cars did not require a key, just a screwdriver to start it.
In later years, Joseph pursued a career in trucking. Joseph worked for several local manufacturers and distributors providing freight and delivery. Joseph completed his career in customer service as an attendant and bellman for the Hilton Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City. Joseph worked closely with his fellow workers including his brother-in-law, John. Joe took pride in helping to make the guests’ stay more comfortable. And to his co-workers he was the Big-Kahuna for both his size and work ethic.
Joseph is predeceased by his parents, Catherine (nee O’Brien) and Joseph Cornetto, Sr.
Joseph is survived by, six children, Joey, Jenifer, Kelly, Brian, Christopher, and Daneil and Joseph is also survived by his brothers, Michael (wife Patricia), Kevin (wife Kathy), and sisters, Karen Drammissi (husband John), Kate Beyer(husband Wayne).
Joseph will be interred with his parents at Good Luck Cemetery, Haines Street, Lanoka Harbor, NJ. There will be a small service for Joseph at Good Luck Cemetery on Monday, August 5, 2024, at 9:30 am.
Religion was a comfort for Joseph. May Joseph and all who knew him find peace.
