Joseph P. Cingrana, 73, of Waretown, New Jersey, passed away on June 3, 2026.
Born on November 10, 1952, Joe served his country in the United States Navy as a radio mechanic. He went on to a thirty-year career as a cable splicer for Con Edison and was a proud member of Local 1-2. In the aftermath of September 11, 2001, Joe was among the workers at Ground Zero, doing the difficult work of restoring power to the city.
Joe was happiest at and took great pride in his homes in Staten Island, NY and later in Waretown, NJ, which he kept immaculate inside and out. He loved to cook, and his greatest joy was watching the people he loved enjoy a meal he'd made. He was always ready to lend a hand, whether with a household project or to a friend in need. A natural athlete and a fiercely competitive one, he excelled at any sport he played, from softball to bocce to a friendly game of cards. He was a devoted New York Yankees and New York Giants fan, loved music, and could quote every Robert De Niro movie by heart. Known for his quick wit and great sense of humor, Joe was also generous to a fault and treated everyone he met with kindness. Joe also loved his dog Jagger and was the most amazing grandfather to Lillian and Charlotte.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Linda Cingrana; his son, Joseph Cingrana III; his stepdaughter, Kimberly Clark, and her husband, Jason Clark; his stepson, Robert Juliano; his cherished granddaughters, Lillian and Charlotte Clark; his sisters, Marlene O'Mealia, Jeanne Handlowitch, and Kathy Sattler and her husband, Bob; along with many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Cingrana and Adeline Giodino, along with his siblings Paul Zalinsky, Joanne Altamirano, and Barbara Zulauf.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 15, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Layton's Home for Funerals in Forked River, New Jersey. A burial with military honors will follow on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, New Jersey.
