John Dennis Dalton

John Dennis (Denny) Dalton, 86, of Barnegat, New Jersey, passed away on January 28, 2023, at Southern Ocean County Medical Center in Manahawkin, NJ.  Denny was born in Irvington, New Jersey on November 01, 1936, and grew up in Milburn, New Jersey.  Later after marriage, he moved to Forked River with his family and was a resident for 40+ years.

He was a proud Army veteran who had served in Japan.  He went to automotive technical school and worked as a mechanic for many years and later became an automatic transmission rebuilder working in Ocean and Monmouth counties. 

He was an avid NASCAR fan and his favorite driver was Martin Truex Jr.  He attended many races whether on asphalt or dirt, cheering on his favorites.  He often attended races at Wall Stadium and New Egypt Speedway.  He was also a member of the Garden State Vintage Stock Car Club and enjoyed reading about the races in Area Auto Racing News. 

During his commuting years, he was a CB user like many others who traveled the Parkway and his CB handle was Sneaky Snake. 

Denny loved fishing of all types and caught many fish from lakes, to rivers, to the ocean shores. 

Surviving are his wife Ruth, his daughter Denise Kavanagh (husband John), and his son Kevin.  Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, as well as grandnieces and grandnephews.   His brother James Dalton predeceased Denny as did his mother and father, Helene and James Dalton. 

Denny was a parishioner of St. Pius X Church for almost 50 years, where his services will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2023 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 09:30 AM, followed by burial services with Military Honors at 11:30 AM at Brigadier General William C Doyle Veterans Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ.
