John S Schettini

 On the afternoon of February 26, 2021, John Schettini of Whiting New Jersey passed away peacefully at the age of 95, surrounded by his family.  

John was born to Carlo and Ermelinda Schettini in New York City in 1925.  He served in the Army in the European theater during World War 2 and was awarded The Purple Heart.  John worked at the postal service in New York City.  In 1959 he married his wife Margaret and together raised two children, Steven and John.  They started their family in the Bronx, before settling in Jackson, New Jersey in 1966. 

John was and avid “tinkerer” throughout his retirement and reveled in fixing anything that wasn’t working.  He was known for his kindness and generous of spirit to all those he met.  

John was preceded in death by his father Carlo and mother Ermelinda, sisters, Dora and Vera, and brothers, Louis, Joseph, Raymond, Earnest and Vincent. 

He is survived by his wife Margaret ,and two sons Steven and his wife Carla and John and his wife MaryEllen and grandchildren Alexandra, Emily and Lillian and many nieces and nephews.
