John J Buday

John J. Buday, of Barnegat, New Jersey, went home to his heavenly reward on July 27, 2026.

Born and raised in Lodi, New Jersey, son of Anthony and Victoria Buday, and late son of Mary Buday, who died at childbirth.

John graduated from Lodi Schools, then entered into the United States Army serving as a medic during the Korean War. After his departure from the U.S. Army, he graduated from Montana State University with a degree in journalism, which helped along with his career as editor/publisher of the Senior Bulletin serving Ocean and Monmouth Counties with pertinent info helpful to seniors. He also started a program as director of senior services which helped benefit seniors of part-time employment and other helpful tools.

After his retirement from senior services, he pursued a career in real estate in New Jersey and Virginia.

His love and respect for family and friends were always of the upmost importance in his life.  Being surrounded at the table for holidays, Sundays and always lots of pasta.

Second to his appetite for food, he enjoyed playing golf where he received a patent for a golf club design. He also enjoyed watching football and later in later life enjoyed watching cowboy movies, particularly Gun Smoke.  

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Jacquelyn (Berdan) Buday. John is predeceased by his former wife, Marie DeBruno. He is survived by his brothers-in-law William and Charles Berdan, several nieces and nephews, along with cherished and devoted friends who played a big part of his life. Thank you for all your love and loyalty.

The family request, in lieu of flowers, to donate to a charity of your choice. John was a parishioner of Saint Mary’s Church in Barnegat, as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Friends and family are invited to Layton’s Home for Funerals on Friday, August 7, 2026 from 2 to 5 pm for a celebration of life. A mass of Christian burial at Saint Mary’s Church, Barnegat, will take place on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at 10 am. Following Mass, interment will take place at Saint Mary’s Cemetery, in Manahawkin, New Jersey.
