It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our sweet Joan Marie Beveridge, 73. Joan died at her home on Sunday, November 26, 2023 after a long battle against bone cancer. With her Rosary in hand, she was ready to see her Mom again and be welcomed home to Heaven.
Joan was born in Newark, NJ, grew up in Elizabeth and lived in Plainfield and Great Meadows for many years before moving to Forked River in 2005 with her husband so they could be near family.
She was predeceased by her mother Nancy Ratel, father Francis Ratel, sister Frances DeRosa, niece Kimberley Smith, nephew Michael DesRuisseau, and her precious pets.
Joan had some odd jobs throughout life but her main occupation was homemaker. She had no children of her own so her life was dedicated to her husband of 51 years and their many animals. She cared deeply for her extended family, especially the children.
Joan was a snowbird. She loved the cold weather, having her coffee in the mornings while reading the paper, and doing her crosswords to keep her mind sharp! She was a fan of Westerns and loved to shop! Joan had great taste and style. She filled the house with beautiful things and took pride in keeping her home pristine. Joan proudly made donations to St. Jude Children's Hospital any time she could.
Joan is survived by her beloved husband Bruce Beveridge, niece Cynthia Quinones, nephew Christopher Wolf, niece Anita DesRuisseau, great niece Ashley Veith, great niece Courtney DesRuisseau, great-great niece Kimberley Sanchez and great-great nephew Ethan Neal, as well as many other family members.
