Janet L. Ingenito

Janet L. Ingenito, 74, of Forked River, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2025, at Community Medical Center in Toms River, NJ, with her children by her side.

Born in Newark, NJ, she resided in Union, NJ, where she graduated from Union High School in 1969. 

She moved to Forked River in 1972, where she and her husband Albert raised their family.  In the early years of living in Forked River, she volunteered with the local ASPCA and worked as a Census Taker for the U.S. Census Bureau.  Her kind and caring nature led her to a career in healthcare where she became a Home Health Aide with Visiting Homemakers of New Jersey.  Later in her career, she worked as a Certified Medical Assistant for Spring Oak Assisted Living in Lanoka Harbor, NJ, and retired from Keswick Pines at Whiting in 2012.

In retirement, she enjoyed taking day trips to Atlantic City to play the slots, bus trips to interesting places with her family and friends, visiting Smithville with her daughter, and going to lunch and playing bingo with her friends.  She loved music and enjoyed going to occasional concerts with her children.  If a song she loved came on the radio, she was sure to turn it up and dance.

Daughter of the late Joseph and Leona Schweighardt, she is predeceased by her loving husband of 49 years, Albert.  She is survived by her children, Craig Ingenito of Hillsborough, and Cara Ingenito of Forked River, and two brothers, Robert and Paul.  She is also survived by her six grand kitties, Gemma, Finnegan, Scout, Penny, Ivy and Ferris who all miss her terribly.
