Hedwig Knipp Obituary

Hedwig was born in Jersey City to the parents of Polish immigrants John (deceased) and Wladyslawa Jachewicz (deceased). She was married to a fallen war hero William Anthony Knipp of WWII (deceased) and was a devoted mother of William J. Knipp (deceased), a former police officer in North Bergen, NJ. She is survived by her loving grandchildren and great grandchildren: grandson Gregory Knipp and his wife Susan, their children Christopher, Jeremy, and Ryan of Indiana; grandson Jeffrey Knipp and his wife Joanne, their daughters Brittney and Courtney Knipp of New Jersey; granddaughter Lori Anne Knipp and her children Christian, Jacob and Sarah Zuba of Florida; and granddaughter Crissandra Knipp along with her four children Gabriel from New Jersey, Ethan, Jaedon, and Isabella of Texas.  She is also survived by her brother Francis and his wife Loraine, their children Kenneth, Frances, and Christine of New Providence, NJ.  Hedwig is also mourned by her daughter in law from her son William’s first marriage, Janet Knipp of Toms River, NJ.

Hedwig worked very hard throughout her life to support her family, with her last position being a bank teller at the Trust Company of New Jersey.  She was a devoted sister and sacrificed much of her time to care for her siblings Helen Jachewicz (deceased) and John Jachewicz (deceased).  Hedwig was an excellent role model for her family, particularly her grandchildren who have long looked up to her for her selfless behavior and her charity to others.  She was a very strong woman who lived a modest life, dedicating her time to her family, being an active member and serving on several committees of St. Anne’s Polish Church in Jersey City, a member of the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association, and a member of the Polish Women’s Alliance of America.  She touched the lives of many through her lifelong service to her community and will be dearly missed by those she left behind, but her legacy of love, care and compassion will live on through her surviving family and friends.
