Geraldine Samuella Woodruff, 82, passed away peacefully at home on November 20, 2025, with her beloved husband by her side.
Born and raised in Nutley, Geraldine carried the close-knit spirit of her hometown with her throughout her life. She raised her family in Bloomfield before settling in Waretown in 2011, where she built new memories while cherishing long-held ones.
Geraldine shared 33 wonderful years of marriage with Robert J. Woodruff, a partnership filled with love, loyalty, and laughter. She was predeceased by her parents Sam and Jessie Grande, whom she loved dearly. She was the beloved mother of Joe and his wife Lori, Carmine and his wife Ana, Robert and his wife Leanne, and Brian, and the cherished grandmother of Carmine, Michael, Joseph, Jon, Jake, Deanne, and Nash—each of whom brought her endless joy.
She enjoyed a long career as an insurance agent with the Della Ferra Agency of Newark, NJ, where she was known for her dedication, her warmth, and the way she treated every client like family.
Above all, Geraldine lived for the people she loved. She treasured time with family, delighted in traveling with her husband Robert “Woody”. She laughed at every joke she heard and created community wherever she went. Her legendary Super Bowl parties were known for their food, fun, and warmth.
Geraldine loved her time at Greenbriar, where she was an active member of the Italian American Club, the Woman’s Club, the Gardeners Club, and the Wine Tasting Club. She enjoyed spending time with her friends, attending Friday evening dinners at the clubhouse, playing bocce ball, and bowling. Her friendships there brought her immense joy and enriched her life in countless ways.
Geraldine will be remembered for her generosity, her humor, her fierce love for her family, and the joy she brought into every room. Her beautiful smile touched everyone who knew her. Her spirit will be deeply missed and forever carried in the hearts of those who knew her.
