Born on March 8, 1956, in Brooklyn, New York, to Michael and Maryann Blozen, Frank was raised in a large extended family that included aunts, uncles, cousins, and lifelong friends. A proud Navy veteran, he served aboard the USS Independence as an air intercept controller from 1976 to 1980 and continued his service as a Navy reservist from 1981 to 1983.
Frank dedicated many years to the United States Postal Service and ultimately earned the title of Supervisor of Customer Service the Long Beach Island Branch.
In 1984, Frank married the love of his life, Barbara (Banks). The couple began their life together in Middle Village before moving to Forked River in 1993, where Frank helped his uncle and cousins build the family's forever home on the lagoon—hoping it would one day be known as "Papa's House". There, they spent countless summers swimming, boating, crabbing, and entertaining family and friends.
Frank enjoyed golfing, friendly card games, watching the Mets and Jets (and any team with a good money line), coaching Little League, and attending cheerleading competitions. No matter the venue, Frank was the entertainment - a good friend with an endless supply of one-liners, jokes, and comebacks; he kept everyone around him laughing and was never afraid to say what was on his mind.
Frank was predeceased by his parents, Maryann and Michael; his son, Christopher Michael; and his loyal black lab, Benjamin. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; his daughter, Brittany Fontenelli (Ryan); his son, Andrew Blozen; and his brother, Michael Blozen.
Above all, Frank cherished his role as "Papa" to his granddaughters, Brynn Rosemarie Fontenelli and Taylor Michelle Fontenelli. Though he held many roles throughout his life—loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, proud veteran, and friend—being "Papa" was his greatest joy.
