Francis “Frank” Schureman of Lacey Township, NJ unexpectedly passed away at the age of 73 on Saturday, March 19, 2022. Frank was predeceased by his wife, Bonnie Schureman. He has two daughters; Shannon Morris and Suzanne D’Arcangelo and two sons in law, Matthew Morris and Joseph D’Arcangelo. Frank was blessed with seven grandchildren: Griff, Sofia, Gwyneth, Whitley, Stella, Luka and Maeve. He is survived by his partner of 20 years, Colleen Harding. Also surviving are sisters, Helen Gulick, Ocean Township and Gale Soler, Red Bank; mother-in-law, Stella Bishop and a sister-in-law, Holly Czarnecki, both of Oakhurst; and many nieces and nephews.
Frank dedicated his life to teaching instrumental music. In over 30 years of teaching he touched innumerable lives and left his students not only the gift of music, but a sense of confidence, connection and belonging. He was a well loved and much respected teacher. He demanded a lot, but gave more; his students were better for having known him.
Frank loved music. He was an excellent trumpet player and was active in several different local concert bands. He was a gifted woodworker and valued his time in his “keepout” where he made amazing things. His love of travel started way back when his parents took him, as a child, on a trip across the country. That travel bug never left; he has been all over the world.
He had the best sense of humor and made the “dad joke” a thing way before it became a part of pop culture. He was so very loved. He will be missed always.
A celebration of Frank’s life will be held at Layton’s Home for Funerals, 250 Lacey Road, Forked River, NJ on Thursday, March 24, 2022 from 3:00 to 7:00 pm.
