Ellen B. Voorhees

Ellen passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 8, 2024. 

She was born in Philadelphia, PA to Lillian and Richard Bergseth.

She was raised from the age of six to the age of twelve by two sets of aunts and uncles due to her parents being ill with TB. She and her mother then settled in Trenton area after the death of her father.

She graduated from Hamilton High West in 1951 and married her teenaged sweetheart, Charles C. Voorhees, Jr.

She was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary for 25 years. She traveled around the world and the United States after she retired from the NJ Division of Criminal Justice as the Clerk of the state Grand Jury.

She white-water rafted down the Colorado River for 20 years, the last time when she was 81 years old. She was an amazing, strong-willed woman.

Predeceased by her parents and husband, she leaves behind her children, Lynne Secker and Richard Voorhees, her grandchildren, Jill Patterson, Alexander Armstrong, and Erik Armstrong, and her great-grandchildren, Connor Armstrong, Aidan Armstrong, Jacob Patterson, and Gavin Armstrong.
