Elizabeth M Stevens

Elizabeth M. Stevens, age 71, passed away on February 16, 2026 in her home; surrounded by her loved ones after a long, hard fought battle with cancer.

She was the beloved widow of Paul Stevens, Jr. and mother of Paul Lee III. She was born in Neptune, NJ and grew up and lived in Freehold Township before moving to Forked River over 40 years ago.

Following graduation from Red Bank Catholic High School, Liz went on to receive a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Delaware and obtained her CPA license.

Liz quickly found a job at an accounting firm after graduation and continued to work there until she became partner. She then purchased the firm and met her new partner, Al, where together they owned and operated Synkowski & Normann, CPA's for over 45 years, based in her home town of Freehold.

When not working hard, Liz could be found at whatever competition her son was competing in. Whether at the soccer field or on the water at the many regattas, she never missed an event her son competed in. Liz and her son also enjoyed many opportunities to travel whenever they could. There were countless cruises and trips to Italy for wonderful sights, delicious food, and shopping for purses. When not on the go, Liz enjoyed a good book by the pool with her puppy companion, Lilly, by her side.

Liz was predeceased by her husband, Paul and father, John Synkowski.

Along with her son, she is survived by her mother Elizabeth Synkowski, sister Susan Stites, sister and brother-in-law Carol and Paul Conover, and brother John Synkowski, as well as her nieces and nephews and countless friends. She will be sorely missed by all.

Visitation will take place at Layton's Home for Funerals on Friday, February 20th from 2:00-6:00PM. Mass will be held at St. Pius X Church, Saturday, February 21st at 11:00AM.
