Dorothy Truskowski

Dorothy Truskowski of Forked River NJ, passed away at home peacefully on August 22, 2022 at the age of 96.  She was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Edward.  Devoted mother to her children, Jean, Joan and Edward, loving and proud grandmother to Jake, and great grandchildren Arden and Molly.    

Dot had a zest for life, a great sense of humor and relished the company of her family and friends; her favorite pastime was playing card games and watching game shows- she said it kept her mind active!   Dot always had a positive attitude and wonderful outlook – Her favorite saying was “one day at a time”.   She will be dearly missed by all.

A memorial service will be held for family members only.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dorothy's honor to Squirrelwood Equine Sanctuary (501(c)(3)) via squirrelwoodequinesanctuaryinc.org/donate or by check made payable to Squirrelwood Equine Sanctuary, 1994 State Route 17K, Montgomery, NY 12549. 

As a young woman, Dorothy was an avid equestrian and loved spending time with horses.  She and her husband Ed spent their first date on a romantic hayride and Dorothy fondly recalled falling in love surrounded by the scenery of her favorite farm.  In her later years, she loved seeing pictures of her beloved great-grandaughters exploring the Sanctuary, talking to her grandson's wife about their shared love of horses and learning about the Sanctuary's wonderful work providing homes and care for many animals in need.
