Doris V Sidney

Doris V. Sidney, 96 years old, of Forked River, NJ, formerly from Bloomfield, NJ, passed away peacefully in her home Saturday, Aug 21st, surrounded by her family. 

Doris worked full-time over 40 years as an office manager and full charge bookkeeper. Her work supported a fabrication factory, a jewelry company and an audio visual company. She did this while raising 3 children during the 50s and 60s and retired at the age of 80.

Doris was a true Mets fanatic! She never missed a game on TV. If the game was on the west coast, she would record the game and watch it the next day. She was hoping for another subway series this year.

Doris was an avid reader. She enjoyed all types of literature, but crime mysteries and historical fiction were her favorites. Her Kindle reader was never far away.

Doris loved playing cards. She was part of the Texas hold'em group as well as a canasta player. When the poker group heard she was sick, they dealt her in an honorary hand. Naturally, she won the hand with a full house! Just recently the grandkids were teaching her how to play Back Alley Bridge. Yes, she won playing that, too!

Doris is survived by her children: Warren Sidney and wife, Kathy from Mesa, AZ; Donald Sidney and wife Kathy from Mendham, NJ; Barbara Telleri and husband Carmen from Forked River, NJ; Grandchildren: Laura Betz and husband Brad; Brian Sidney and wife Amy; Erin Sidney and wife Dariel; Nicole Simpson and husband David; and Allison Rekuc and husband Dave; Great-grandchildren: Bowen Betz; Jake and Luke Sidney; Isla, Ruthie and Samuel Sidney; Hailey Simpson; Finley and Grayson Rekuc.
