Doreen Scutro

Doreen G. Scutro, 68, of Lacey Township, New Jersey, passed away on August 4, 2024.

Doreen was born on January 21, 1956, in Yonkers, New York, to her beloved parents, Gertrude Urban and Francis Rogers. She graduated from Yonkers High School and attended Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, NY.

Doreen dedicated over 25 years to her career as a Paraprofessional, retiring from Lacey Township School District in 2020. However, her love for working with children drew her back to a part-time role at St. Mary Academy in Manahawkin, where she joyfully served as a Kindergarten Classroom Aide.

Above all, Doreen cherished her family. She found immense joy in spending time with her loved ones, and her deep commitment to family was evident to all who knew her.

In 2001, Doreen met Randy Scutro, and they were married on October 12, 2002, in Forked River, NJ. Randy brought happiness into Doreen's life, and together, they lovingly and willingly raised Nicole and Ashley during their adolescence.

Doreen is survived by her loving family: her daughter Nicole Azzolino and husband Danny Azzolino, her daughter Ashley Damiano and husband Vincent Damiano, her husband Randy Scutro, and her cherished grandchildren Mackson Azzolino, Mila Azzolino, and Nikolas Damiano and her sister Maureen Bouxsein.

She was predeceased by her mother, Gertrude Urban Rogers, her father, Francis Rogers, and her late husband, Richard Gonzalez.

The family has entrusted Layton's Funeral Home, 250 Lacey Rd., Forked River, NJ 08731, with the arrangements. A visitation is scheduled for Thursday, August 8, 2024, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
