Donna passed away quietly on Sunday January 5, 2025 at the Crystal Lake Nursing Home. Her death was caused by her long term Alzheimer's disease. Donna was born in Philadelphia on September 13, 1942. She graduated from Olney High School and worked at Provident Bank in Philadelphia. She married in May of 1964 and gave up the city life and moved to a quiet Forked River Beach.
She loved the quietness and the older people living around her. But she loved little kids even more. Even to the point that she provided warm jackets to some of the kids in the dead of winter. She was a self made seamstress and by all means an excellent cook, not afraid to tackle any recipe. But above all she was a dedicated homemaker...almost in some circles considered a fanatic. She didn't care - that was her passion and she achieved it.
She was also an extremely good wife, extraordinary mother to her two sons and a good grandmother and great grandmother. Donna was predeceased by her mother and father, Esther and Phil Shrunk; sister Dorrett Hessel; aunts and uncles Dot and Ed Leedom, Loretta and Bud DeFrehn and cousins Robert DeFrehn and Joseph Warren.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Richard W. Hackett, her two sons Richard W. Hackett, Jr., (Kathryn) and Rhett Hackett (Sheryl); four grandchildren, Paige, Steve (Stephanie), David and Logan and two great grandchildren, Joshua and Michaella; four cousins, Doreen, Janice, Raymond and Walter, two brothers-in-law, Bill Ridgway and Charles Hessel and many nieces and nephews.
