Cyril Edward Dunn, Jr, 84, born November 1, 1940, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2025. Born in Camden, NJ, he was the son of Cyril Edward Dunn, Sr., and Loretto Barbara McDonnell Dunn. He was raised in Collingswood and graduated from Collingswood High School. He played many sports and was most passionate about throwing the javelin in track. He graduated from Glassboro State College and received his Master's in Administration from Rutgers University. In 1967, he married his wife, Mary Ellen, and they settled in Forked River, NJ, where he happily resided for 54 years.
Cy was an English teacher at Toms River High School South (1962-1964) and Central Regional High School (1964-1998). He served 5 summers as a police officer in Seaside Heights. During the summer, you would likely find Cy boating and working at the Lacey Farmer's Market. He enjoyed traveling with his favorite trips, including Bermuda, sailing to Block Island, traveling to California to visit family, going to Bogota, Colombia for his children in the 70's and again in 2005, and traveling to sports tournaments. He was an active community member volunteering as a coach and as a member of many local organizations.
Through all his years of marriage, he always said how lucky he was to have such a wonderful wife, Mary.
Cy is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Mary, their son Jason and his wife Takami, his daughter Erin Miller and her husband Chris Miller, their grandchildren Liv, Emiko, Gabe, and James, sisters Jane Hofbauer and Jane Lavoie, brothers Thomas Dunn III, Jim Dunn, Mike Patterson, Tom Patterson, and Dan Patterson
