Catherine Jean Allen (nee Welton), a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister & cherished friend, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2024 at her home in Forked River, NJ surrounded by her family at the age of 80. Born on July 14, 1944 in New York City, Catherine was the daughter of the late Frederick and Catherine Welton (nee Corrigan). She was raised in Hells Kitchen New York together with her 11 siblings, Jean, Frederick, Joan, Maureen, Robert, Carol, John, Richard, Kevin, Deborah and Eileen.
Catherine is now reunited in heaven with her loving husband, James Donald Allen, who predeceased her in 1987. Thereafter, Catherine spent 22 wonderful years with her companion Kenneth P. Petersen who predeceased her in 2010.
She leaves behind a family who will continue to love and cherish her memory. Her daughter Kim Marie and her husband Charles Myers; her daughter Denise Catherine and her husband Vincent Lopez. Her grandchildren Andrew, Kristina, Clarissa, Jessica, Brian, Kristen and Dylan. Her great grandchildren Nevanysh, Alexandra, Dylan, Mackenzie, Isabella, Sean, Emily, Julianna, Abigail, Aurelia, Phoenix and Ava; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Catherine fiercely loved her family and took immense pride and joy in their accomplishments.
Catherine was employed as a Deli Manager for over 20 years for such companies as ShopRite, Foodtown and A&P. It was the perfect position for her as she loved working with people. She was a favorite among customers and employees alike.
Catherine had a profound love of Jesus. Her faith was a guiding force in her life, providing her with strength and comfort. She loved reading the Bible and spent many enjoyable hours reading her religious books.
Catherine was an Elvis fanatic with a sizeable collection of memorabilia. She also was an avid lifelong New York Rangers fan. Catherine could cook a mean meatloaf, loved chicken parmigiana and any Italian food. She had a sweet tooth for Peppermint Patties, chocolate covered cherries and chocolate chip cookies. Catherine was always the life of the party and loved champagne, especially pink champagne. She enjoyed listening to the Golden Oldies and watching her favorite TV shows & movies such as Grease, Dirty Dancing, a Bronx Tale, GoodFellas, It’s a Wonderful Life, Family Feud and Law & Order.
All who knew and loved Catherine are invited to join them in remembering a life well lived by a woman who touched the hearts of so many. Her beautiful smile, love of life, great sense of humor and quick wit will be sorely missed by all.
