Ann Smith Obituary

Ann Smith, age 83, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2021, surrounded by family at her home in Forked River, NJ.

Ann was born in Avoca, Pa on May 7,1938 to Jack and Helen Bellfield. At 17 she moved to NJ where she attended Hillside High School.  Ann was married on May 23, 1959 to Dr. Willard D Smith, JR, who preceded her in death in 2002.

Ann was a loving mother, who was often described as the sweetest person you could ever meet. She taught us all how to enjoy life by celebrating the little things. Ann was the eternal optimist, always looking forward to what tomorrow would bring- a warm day, a visit to the beach, a simple jelly donut. Rocking babies to sleep was her superpower.

She was an avid Giants fan who loved Sunday football and the Red Zone but couldn’t understand “why our guys always run right up the middle”. She enjoyed traveling, watching action packed foreign films with subtitles, sweets of any kind, and the occasional tall gin and tonic, “lots of tonic and little bit of gin”.

Most of all, she loved spending time with her nine grandchildren -Campbell, Victoria, Kristen, Erica, Jessica, Andrew, Patricia, Ann, Parker and five great grandchildren- Ryker, Elijah, Kayden, Dexter, Hunter. She looked forward to all their sporting events, dance recitals, or shopping dates followed by lunch out with dessert.  She cherished every moment she spent with her family, and we with her.

She is survived by her five children and their spouses, Robert and Deborah Evett of Grand Rapids, MI, Kevin and Kathleen Huff of Palmetto, FL, David and Sharon Petty of Forked River, NJ, Willard and Tracey Smith of Manahawkin, NJ and Bryan and Maggie Smith of Barnegat, NJ.

While she may not be with us by our side, she will be in our hearts forever.
