Alice Gregory, nee Berket, 93, of the Lanoka Harbor section of Lacey Township, passed away, Saturday, April 5, 2025, at home.
Born August 2, 1931, the youngest of four children to Viola and John Berket, in Brooklyn, NY. Alice resided most of her life in Astoria, Queens, and Riverdale, NY prior to settling in Lanoka Harbor in the 1990s.
Alice dedicated over forty years of her career in Manhattan, initially serving as an administrative secretary for a chemical company, and subsequently as the personal legal secretary to one of the partners at a prestigious Manhattan law firm.
Alice was recognized as an accomplished seamstress and a phenomenal cook. She loved to plan menus and entertain company. Her annual Ukrainian Christmas Eve dinners, consisting of 12 courses, were an anticipated tradition among her family.
In their retirement years, Alice and her husband, Ed, travelled extensively, including several cross-country trips and numerous cruises, both European and Domestic. Alice had a zest for life and drew people to her with her smile, sense of humor, and generosity. She will be remembered by many.
Alice was predeceased by her loving husband, Edward Gregory in 2018.
She is survived by, according to her words, “the son and daughter she never had,” her nephew and his wife, Stephen and Diane Kwitnicki and their daughters, Laura and Dana and her husband’s son and family, Patrick and Melinda Gregory, and their children, Christopher, Kelly, and Ryan.
