John J. McGrath, Sr., 90, of the Forked River section of Lacey Township, died Thursday, November 16, 2017, at Community Medical Center, Toms River.

Mr. McGrath was employed for 39 years as a transportation manager with New Jersey Bell, Union, before retiring 35 years ago.

He was a former member of the Madison 1st Aid Squad, the Lacey Township Elks and was Scout Master of Troop 61, Parlin. He also was a communicant of the Church of Saint Pius X, Forked River, Lacey Township.

Born in Philadelphia, he resided in Parlin before moving to Forked River 29 years ago.

He was predeceased by his wife Kathleen T. in January 2016.

Surviving are two sons, John J. Jr., and his wife, Debra, Toms River and Kevin and his wife, June, Schwenksville, PA; two daughters, Cathy Bradshaw and husband, Pat, Carmel, IN and Margie Colello and husband, George, Bayville; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
