Doris L. Hart (Hornung), age 88, of Forked River passed away peacefully Thursday, September 6th at the home of her son and daughter-in-law surrounded by her loving family.
Doris was born on November 28th, 1929 in Newark, NJ. She married the love of her life, Kenny, on November 24th, 1951. Two sons, Kenny and Kevin, who thought the world of her would follow.
She and the family would move to Howell Twp. in 1963 and spend many happy years there. After the passing of her husband in 1982, Doris moved to Forked River in the newly developed Pheasant Run complex. In time, she would have four grandchildren who would become her pride and joy, and they in turn absolutely adored her. Some may remember her from her days working in what was then Lane Drugs and later became Rite-Aid. Or perhaps, you had a conversation with her as she strolled the aisles of Shoprite, Kohl’s, or Dollar Tree. One of her greatest passions in life, besides reading romance novels, was watching the New York Yankees. Not only did she refer to the players by their first names, as if she knew them, she would watch replays of games that she had already seen. She was a friend to all and people truly loved her. Doris enjoyed being in the company of friends and family and was never one to pass up a good celebration, earning her the moniker, “Party Gram.”
Doris will be greatly missed. She was also predeceased by her brothers John and Harold Hornung. Doris is survived by her sons, Ken and wife Sharon, Kevin and wife Donna, grandchildren, Ryan and fiance Erica, Bridget and husband Craig, Kelsey, and Cameron, Sister Carye-Belle Dragonetti, and brother Ralph Hornung and many nieces and nephews.
