Debra Armstrong VanNess 55, beloved wife of Kenneth and mother of Kyle, passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, June 16. Seven and half years ago she was diagnosed with breast cancer; she fought courageously on her terms never letting her diagnosis change her life. 

Born on March 25, 1962 in Jersey City, NJ, Deb was raised in Beachwood, NJ and graduated from Toms River High School South. She remained in Beachwood for several years after marrying her first love Ken. There, they had their only son, Kyle and ultimately moved to their current home in Forked River, NJ. Deb and Kyle shared a very special bond. She was happiest when she was spending time with her pride joy and best friend Kyle.

Deb had a successful career that began at the Toms River Courthouse. After ten years at the courthouse Debra took a position as a contract specialist for NavAir where she remained for over twenty-five years. One of Deb’s favorite activities was attending Jazzercise classes. Even with her busy career and being a mom she still found time to attend classes several times a week. 

Deb was predeceased by her brother Mathew. She is survived by her parents Nancy and Francis Armstrong Jr., her sister Patricia Kilfeather and husband Kevin, brother Francis Armstrong III and wife Wendy, and sister-in-law Lori Armstrong. She is also survived by many adoring nieces and nephews Kelly, Kevin, Owen, Chris, Kimberly, Maura, and Timmy.

Deb will always be remembered for her independence, courage, and love of her family.
